A message from friend, asking to start sustainable sneaker brand KAPAS PADUKA (AGRA), INDIA.
The story of Kapas Paduka began with a cup of coffee and a vision. During a visit to Jaipur, our founder, Chetan Verma, enjoyed a great cup of coffee at Curious Life Coffee Roasters with his friends. It was here that the idea of starting a sneaker brand was suggested. Being from Agra, the city of love and renowned as the shoe manufacturing hub of India, this idea sparked a journey of transformation and purpose.
Chetan envisioned creating not just a sneaker brand but a movement. Inspired by Agra’s duality, its rich heritage and the growing environmental challenges due to shoe manufacturing waste. He decided to craft a brand that stood for more than just style and comfort.
With the Saving Earth Mission in mind, Kapas Paduka was designed to protect the environment and promote sustainability. The brand pledged to plant 8 trees for every product sold, contributing to healthier air and greener cities. Witnessing Agra’s struggles with shoe material waste, Chetan was inspired to integrate upcycled materials into the sneakers, making innovation and sustainability the foundation of the brand.
But Kapas Paduka’s mission didn’t stop there. Chetan envisioned a brand that empowers communities. He decided that women would run 50% of the brand, fostering inclusivity and creating leadership opportunities. Additionally, the brand committed to preserving traditional craftsmanship by collaborating with handmade shoe artisans, ensuring they are fairly compensated and their skills are celebrated.
That day in Jaipur, over a simple yet profound conversation, Kapas Paduka was born. It became more than a footwear brand. It became a promise to leave green imprints on time, creating a community driven by sustainability, tradition, and innovation.
